If you ever wonder if there is a horse for everyone let me assure you there is! Duane is not a “horse guy”. He is a “horse husband” the difference is a horse guy loves horses. A horse husband loves his wife so much he puts up with the all the horses😆. From the day Duke came home, he and Duane have been best buds🦄.
If you have followed the rescue from the beginning you might remember Duke was a breeder dump. Dumped because he was a boy and didn’t sell as a weanling for more than I paid for my first house😳🤦♀️. Yes a HOUSE! So off to slaughter he went. Hiding the dirty little secret. I happened to see him at the lot and heard his story and promised never to reveal his true name (because then none of the other not good enoughs would even get a chance). Anyway, Duke came home with the understanding he would have sanctuary.
Today Duke turns 5 and he and Duane still have a special relationship. They take selfies, they have private “guy” talks and nope the other geldings are not included😂 and today Duane walked out into the muddy pasture to make sure he got birthday time and selfies with Duke.
To say Duke is a special boy is an understatement and he PICKED Duane as his person years ago💚. In fairness, Duke has good taste🥰
